Our standard "week" runs from the Thursday to the next Wednesday.

 

This week no grades will be assigned for online activities; we are just getting settled into the routine of online coursework. (In other words, we are just practicing this week...)

• Compare ethics against other forms of decision making.  What are some other forms? How is ethics distinct?
• What qualities are required for a person to be considered  ethically responsible?

Please review the video at the end of the video: Occupy Wall Street: May Day. Please consider the following question. Leaving aside what’s being protested in this specific case, do protesters ever have a right to shut down public streets for their cause? What values and facts could justify the action? This is for reflection only, no need to write anything.

 

 

Discussion

Discussion this week has two parts, an introduction and a case study. Both discussions can be found on the Discussion Board tab of the Classes site for Phil 121. The Discussion Board is under the "Activities" tab, as "Discussions."

 

First, please go to the class Discussion Board on Classes (link here), and contribute a brief introduction of yourself to your classmates.

 

Second:

Case Study: Medical Testing

On the Discussion Board on Classes, please contribute to the debate, and to answering the question, “What should Guy do?” In the movie, he decides not to join forces with the doctor played by Gene Hackman, but what do you think he should have done?

 

Justify your thoughts in terms of values.

 

Also, respond to at least one of your classmates.

 

Dates for completion
